Hyperborea '17-'20
Hyperborea is a Burning Man Regional event for Central Canada which I helped produce, facilitate and participate in from 2017-2020. I wore multiple hats as a Fire Safety co-lead, board director, community conduct & consent co-chair, art grant artist and theme camp lead at overlapping times.

Sanctioned by the Burning Man Organization in Nevada, Burning Man Regional events take place all over the world, all year round. They can be a fascinating way to experience the local art culture and the secret crowds that gather within them. By leveraging the same principles and rituals as Burning Man, these events provide new dimensions on which to experience regional microcosms as temporary experiential art landscapes.

Hyperborea is perhaps best known for its volatile Canadian weather in mid-May and highly technical art & engineering achievements in the forms of sculpture, circus, sound, art cars, fire artists, fire performers, theme camps, and highly tragic human-centered dramas.

Hyperborea's effigies and temples have historically been built, designed and concepted by groups of artists from the surrounding Greater Toronto Area and Montreal communities. My co-lead Trevyn Watson and I managed all pre-event burn planning, fire safety standards, and onsite management of burns, burn practices, fire art and FAST volunteers.
